SUMMARY:Monthly Meet - Over the Log Shoot - February 22\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:Annual February Over the Log Shoot\n(Mike Westervelt Memorial Shoot)\nIt is called an over the log or chunk gun match. It is a one of a kind match with unique scoring and format. We decided on this format and type of match as many of our group shoot the Alvin York match in Pall Mall TN\, north west of Knoxville which occurs in March every year. This allows for practice and checking equipment before they compete against 120 or 130 shooters from throughout the midwest. It is a great first match as it is not a lot of shots and plenty of time to analyze your hits and talk to your fellow shooters. You literally change your target after each shot so you can see what is going on. No spotting scopes needed here for this one! \nFor those of you who do not like to get up and down from the ground\, we will have two classifications\, prone and bench. You do not have to have any special equipment like a “chunk gun”. No special clothing although many wear their authentic blue Alvin York overalls. See the attached picture for clothing optional dress. It is how the guns evolved and many shoot what they brung so to speak. So basically any gun\, any sights\, any caliber and shoot with us. So if you have a new rifle\, new load\, new anything and want to test it out\, great match for that. Reason is you do not have to worry about sighting in your rifle\, you bring the bullseye to where you are shooting. Very unique for sure and tough to describe. Just hit the paper somewhere in a group. SUMMARY:Monthly Meet - March 22nd\, 2025 - NMLRA Bullseye Targets
DESCRIPTION:NMLRA Bullseye Targets – 6 Bull target and 2 Bull target \n \nOn March 22nd we will be doing some serious shootin’ under the watchful eyes of our range officers. We will be starting the registration sign in at 8.30am on Saturday\, and start the course of fire description and safety briefing with the goal of beginning the shoot by 9:00am. \nWe are having two shooting categories\, off hand as it is known as and “supported” to compete in classifications for fairness. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us but we will not compete against centerfire or scopes to be fair for example. Supported is the bench rest\, shooting sticks\, kneeling\, sitting\, prone et all shooting group. No prone this time as we gotta practiz with these other shooting positions. All the prone shooters went to Tennessee to try their luck up there anyway and they better report back on how good they done. \nWe will be shooting two relays\, 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting classifications off hand and supported. The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes\, just bragging rights. \nFirst Relay:\n10 shots at 50 yards\, the NMLRA six bull 50 yard target. Two shots each bull for score and one for practizin. \nSecond Relay:\n10 shots at 25 yards\, 50 yard NMLRA two bull targets\, five shots each target. Heck\, may have to change this one up and go smaller since you all want to do some serious shootin’ after you wet them sights. \nScores will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category off hand or supported (bench-rest\, shooting sticks etc). First shot determines your scoring category. No changing your mind after first shot. So pick either bench or offhand. \nSo shooting safety talk start time: 9:00am\, goal is done by noon so we can all enjoy time with our families this weekend or maybe a nice sit down debrief session at the Talking Rock train station. \nSo total of 20 shots total plus practice ones\, Patch and roundball. \nRemember we have a Trade Blanket at all monthly meets. DESCRIPTION:Blanket Prize Meet\n \nBring a Blanket Prize as your entry fee!  \nWe are having two shooting categories\, off hand as it is known as and bench to compete in classifications for fairness. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us but we will not compete against centerfire or scopes to be fair for example. Bench rest\, shooting sticks\, cover support pole\, kneeling\, sitting\, prone et all shooting group. We will be shooting two relays\, 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting classifications off hand and supported. The classifications will not compete against each other but just bragging rights. \nFirst Relay:\n10 shots at 50 yards\, we will have our clay pigeon setup and could add some new steel animals to knock down. Zero for a miss and 10 points for hitting the pigeon or steel knockdown. \nSecond Relay:\n10 shots at 25 yards\, five squirrel two shots each for score and remember it is a tough little bugger of a target so be ready to aim small miss small. They have a bullseye on them\, small\, we will be using to score so not so many ties we hope when it comes to the blanket prize selection process. \nBoth relays will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category off hand or bench-rest. Then we go to the prize blanket so you can choose your winnings based on finish and you choose what looks good to you. \nFirst shot determines your scoring category. No changing your mind after first shot. So pick either bench or offhand. \nSo shooting safety talk start time: 8:00am\, goal is done by noon so we can all enjoy time with our families this weekend and get out of the heat. \n20 shots total\,\nPatch and roundball. \nWe Might have a THIRD RELAY:\nWith our successful pistol match we will be having a monthly match independent of the rifle match. Participation is voluntary if you have a pistol and want to shoot it for score. 5 shots\, 25 yards big bull target. So bring your pistols for added chances to bring home the meat so to speak. DESCRIPTION:Details of the meet will be provided about two weeks before the shoot date. \n  \n\nThe Tomahawk\, Axe\, Hatchet\, Knife throw activity is picking up a lot of participation. Right now\, this is strictly recreational and not competitive. Burn off some pent up energy and join in. If you don’t have your own weapons\, you can borrow Chris Greene’s t’hawks. \n\nWe have a Trade Table at all monthly meets. Bring any items you would like to sell\, trade or barter. The items can be anything – Old\, New\, Blades\, Period Clothing\, and all manner of supplies. \n\nGuests are always welcome who just want to watch\, learn and meet folks.  Bring a chair and we got two picnic tables to sit at as well. \nParticipation Fee: If you are …\nMember of both TRBPS and PCSC: $5\nMember of TRBPS and not PCSC: $10\nMember of PCSC and not TRBPS: $15\nMember of neither: $20
