DESCRIPTION:We will be starting the registration sign in at 8:30am on Saturday May 27th and start the course of fire description and safety briefing with the goal of starting the shoot by 9:00am. \nWe are having two shooting categories\, off hand as it is known as and “supported” to compete in classifications for fairness. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us but we will not compete against centerfire or scopes to be fair for example. DESCRIPTION:Teaching youth to safely enjoy firearms is an American tradition\nYouth Shoot – Historical overview. \nThe purpose of the Youth Historical Shoot is to provide the historical significance of the various firearms one could expect to find between 1774 and 1865. \nThere will be a basic safety lecture on procedure to be expected during the shoot. The mechanics of the various firearms – flintlock\, percussion (cap-lock) and other firing ignition systems will be explained\, as will the following: \n\nInstruction/commands given by the instructors will be followed as given.\nThere will be ONE on ONE coach shooter on each shooting position/bench – no freehand shooting allowed.\nStudents may observe the loading process but will refrain from loading any firearm themselves. Subject to supervised instructions.\nMisfires will be handled by the instructor.\nHang fires are to be expected.\nProtective Eyewear and Hearing Protection are mandatory.\nObservers/photographers will always remain behind the SAFETY LOADING BENCH.\nNo calling out of names of shooters or disturbance of any other kind to distract their focus on the shooting/discharge of firearms will be permitted.\n\nAmerican Heritage Girls learning the history of ancient arms\nSince the purpose of the shoot is for historical reference and primarily for the EXPERIENCE of the youth – the established rules for formal or informal competition do not apply. The youth will simply take a seated position at a bench\, a charged firearm placed in the correct sitting position will be placed with the shooter. A sight picture having been found the trigger pulled and the firearm discharged. DESCRIPTION:Chunk Gun Event \n \nThis is a unique event as the firearms traditionally used are quite unique. The “Chunk Guns” can weigh between 30 to 60 lbs. So\, the shooting format or posture is to lie “prone”. But\, if you’re more comfortable shooting yours benched\, that’s fine too. To participate\, you may bring any muzzle-loading rifle you wish – does not have to weigh a ton. \nTHE PARTICULARS:\nFor those of you who do not like to get up and down from the ground\, we will have two classifications\, prone and bench. Bench will include offhand\, supported – standing with a shooting stick\, using the cover support like a tree\, sitting\, kneeling\, all other. You do not have to have any special equipment like a “chunk gun”. So basically any gun\, any sights\, any caliber and shoot with us. So if you have a new rifle\, new load\, new anything and want to test it out\, this is a great match for that. \nRemember to bring your favorite 50 yard sight in target for your warmup practice shots. We all feel the holidays are for family and especially thanksgiving so please enjoy the time of the holidays. \nShoot program for November 19th:\nOur shoot will start at 9:00am\, safety brief and shoot program description will be held before 9am. We are having our normal two shooting categories that everyone seems to believe is fair and inclusive for everyone. “unsupported” or off hand as it used to be known as and “supported” or bench to compete in classifications for fairness as we have done in every shoot this year. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us. We have also completed some major range improvements for our shooters convenience and comfort. Folks were very pleased at the October shoot at what has been accomplished for them. \nWe will be shooting two relays\, 2 with 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting classifications offhand and bench. The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes\, just bragging rights. \nFirst Relay:\n10 shots at 50 yards at two boar or buffalo bulls targets. DESCRIPTION:We will be starting the registration as always with sign beginning at 8.30am on Saturday October 22nd. The course of fire description and safety briefing will start shortly there after with the goal of starting the shoot by 9:00am. There will be of course the usual cast of characters running around to distract and entertain you. They will even help you out if you need a hand with anything from dry-balls to fail to fires and many other surprising issues as we seem to each month. \nWe are having our two shooting categories\, off hand and bench to compete in classifications for fairness. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us but we will not compete against centerfire or scopes to be fair. Heck bring your gun to work on and shoot. You do not have to shoot for score\, just come and enjoy the day with fellow BP shooters. \nWe will be shooting two relays\, 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting classifications. The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes. We will be having our optional relay for handguns as well. \nFirst Relay:\nThe Program Committee has come up with a way to extend the range and get an additional 40% more yards to shoot! They are tired from all physical exertion to make this happen for you all. So 10 shots at 70 yards! we will be shooting steel hangers and swingers. So we need to aim a lot smaller and miss smaller even more as they are a long ways away now. The Program Committee is still deciding whether to be really cruel and use the smallest targets they can find like popsicle sticks\, blow pops\, suckers or playing cards or just use some other ones that the shooter might actually be able to see. Most likely go with something you might be able to see. \nSecond Relay:\n10 shots at 25 yards\, a running deer hunting target for points. It is a tough bugger of a target so be ready to aim small miss small and dream of a good shot in the woods this fall. \nBoth relays will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category off hand or bench-rest for ranking of results. \nThird Relay:\nWe are having a third relay with handguns. So bring your single shot or cap and ball revolvers. We will have two categories\, both off hand. Single shot will shoot 3 shots each at two bullseye targets and cap and ball will shoot 5 shots at two bullseye targets for score. They will be the same targets but will not compete against each other for score. This relay is optional and will be a stand alone score for handguns only. \nFirst shot determines your scoring category. No changing your mind after first shot. DESCRIPTION:We will be doing the supported and unsupported categories at both 25 and 50 yard targets as this seems to be enjoyed by all on the normal range\, first one on the right as you enter the gate.\n\n25 yard paper target for scoring and 50 yard metal swingers for hit or miss score.  We have some great targets we are selecting from for our 25 yard portion of the day’s shoot.\n\nAt the conclusion of these two relays we will be doing a third relay\, Single Elimination Shoot as the first two are getting scored.\n\nThis single elimination match will be shot off hand\, mano a mano.  Just like the NCAA basketball tournament. We all feel the holidays are for family and especially thanksgiving so please enjoy the time of the holidays. \nWe will be shooting three relays\, 2 with 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting classifications supported and unsupported and a team fun match. The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes\, just bragging rights. \nFirst Relay:\n10 shots at 50 yards\, small bowling pins\, simple hit or miss for points. Plus steel target plates. So 5 shots at each type of target at 50 yards. We got lots of steel and lots of different size bowling pins that we have not even shot yet. \nSecond Relay:\nTwo targets\, small running deer and single bullseye. 5 shots each at 25 yards\, small target for points. They are tough little bugger of targets so be ready to aim small miss small. DO NOT SHOOT EACH OTHER’S TARGET PLEASE! Makes it tough on the scorer and he does not need the headache it gives him! \nThird Relay – Teams:\nOur final match will be the optional team match based on time finished. We do not want to interfere with lunch time as we all need time to clean up a bit and get cooking. All shooters will draw a number from a hat to create a team. Evens will be one team\, the odd numbers the other team. This will involve the teams shooting against each other at the same time to break charcoal briquettes or flour balls at 20-25 or so yards. First team to break all their targets wins. All shots for this match will be shot off hand. The goal is to have each shooter only shoot one or two times each. Example\, if there are 6 team members for each team\, there will be 7 targets minimum for each team to break so there is a reload for at least one team member if everyone hits their target. The match will start with all rifles loaded\, but not primed or capped for safety reasons of course. No volley fire for safety reasons.

SUMMARY:Event: Monthly Meet - Pins at 50 yards and Smalls at 25
DESCRIPTION:We will be shooting two relays\, 10 shots each\, patch and roundball\, any caliber in these two shooting  classifications supported and unsupported.  The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes\, just bragging rights.\n\nFirst Relay:\n10 shots at 50 yards\, small bowling pins\, simple hit or miss for points.  They are getting even smaller for those that shot with us a month ago.  They are known as the bulls balls. Plus steel reset target plates.  So 5 shots at each type of target at 50 yards.\n\nSecond Relay:\n10 shots at 25 yards\, small target for points.  It is a tough little bugger of a target so be ready to aim small miss small.\n\nBoth relays will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category unsupported (off hand) or supported (benchrest\, shooting sticks etc).\n\nFirst shot determines your category. No changing your mind.  Stick to your preference please.\n\nStart time:  9:00 AM\n20 shots total\nPatch and roundball\n\nBring water just in case it heats up\, chair to chill in and be prepared for our after shoot debrief at the Talking Rock Brewery to share stories and ideas for the future.  Very nice\, quiet and friendly place.  Support a local family building their dream.\n\nSo we look forward to everyone coming and shooting with us Saturday\, October 23rd at 9:00 AM.  If you have any questions please holler as I am sure we all have ’em.

DESCRIPTION:First match: Burst Water Balloons – a team match. Numbers will be drawn. Odds are one team\, evens the other team. Distance is 12 yards. Shooters will shoot one at a time\, no volleys for safety reasons. First team to burst all their water balloons wins. \nSecond match: Running From the Boar. 10 shots at 50 yards\, same as at Friendship. Offhand and Bench. How you start determines how you’ll shoot throughout this match\, no swapping methods. Each will get their own Boar target. All shots count. \nThird match: 25 yards for score. 6 shot group. If the sultry southern atmosphere doesn’t call this one off. You may shoot off-hand or bench. \nMember cost to enter is the blanket prize they brung\, else $10.\n\nNon-Member cost to enter is blanket prize + $10\, else $20. \n\nThe Rules:\n1) NMLRA 6 bull target\, 50 yards\, 5 for scoring\, 1 for practice\, two shots at each scoring bull. Max points possible: 100 \n2) Bowling pin shoot\, 25 yards\, 5 tries each shooter\, hit or miss\, 10 points for each hit. Max points possible: 50 \n3) Water Balloon shoot\, 25 yards\, 3 tries each shooter\, hit or miss\, 7 points for each hit. Max points possible: 21 \nScoring:\nTotal points possible for event: 171 = Perfect Score.\n1st place winner gets 1st grab at blanket prize.\n2nd place winner\, 2nd grab at blanket prize.\n3rd place winner\, 3rd grab at blanket prize.\nand so on.\n\nWe want to start with signing in and submitting blanket prizes at 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. SUMMARY:Event: Monthly Meet - Stand Up or Bench Shoot
DESCRIPTION:We will be having a stand up\, off hand match\, and a bench shoot category on the same day.  Just declare your preference\, setup\, load and shoot. \nWe will be shooting the 25 yard NMLRA targets and 50 yard NMLRA targets along with an animal silhouette.  Everyone will shoot the same targets and the only difference will be standing off hand or bench supported sitting based on how\, what you feel capable and most comfortable doing. \nTotal shots will be 20\, so bring powder\, shot\, patches for at least 20 shots plus practice\, warmup shots.  We will be using the NMLRA scoring methods for this one.  There will also be time limits for each relay of shots to ensure we get completed prior to the heat of the day. \nWe will meet and sign in starting at 8:30am with a start time goal of first shot at 9:30am.
