Mike Westervelt, who was a founding member of the TRBPS, passed away Sunday, February 4th, 2024. His kindness, humor, and instructional guidance touched the lives of many, young and old. His spirit lives on in our hearts, and his memory will live on.
Rest in Peace, Mike. You will be well remembered.
He will be dearly missed. I knew him only a short time but he treated me and my kids as he had known us for years. He had a positive attitude and a love for black powder shooting. It was an honor and pleasure to know him.
I met Mike when I started shooting at PCSC before TRBPS was organized. He was a true Southern Gentleman and I am fortunate to call him my friend. I will miss him and our “gunsmithing” talks.

Mike was so helpful and friendly to me when I was new to TRBPS, he made it so easy and fun to fit in with the group. I loved talking with him about the scrimshaw on our powder horns and we swapped secrets on loading paper cartridges for our old battle rifles. I already miss him….rest in peace brother
Hello Everyone, I’m Patricia, Michael’s wife of 30 years. Thank you so much for the kind words. His double majors were Woodworking Technology and Education. He always wanted to teach kids. Plus he was the engineer with the Gwinnett School System so was always around the “baby ducks” as he called them, because little ones “waddle” lol. I turned my art Instagram page into a memorial for Michael with all sorts of pics.
