TRBPS contribute to Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park fund

The Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park, Inc. (PCVMP) was honored by the Talking Rock Black Powder Shooters (TRBPS) membership with a generous financial donation toward the expansion of the Veterans Memorial Park. The Talking Rock Black Powder Shooters recently held a social shoot to allow folks to get out of the house from the winter weather, sign in guns, blow the rust off, and get reacquainted with friends. It was decided to take 100% of the proceeds from shooting that day, match the funds from the group treasury and donate them to the expansion of the Veterans Memorial Park.

The Veterans Memorial Park has been working to relocate the monument that has 55 Pickens County Veterans’ names who gave their lives in defense of freedom for Jasper, Pickens, and our country. It is currently located in front of the Pickens County Courthouse. This will allow the Veterans Memorial Park to be all-encompassing for honoring all veterans in one location. Phase II will have etchings in finished black granite monuments of veterans in photo-realistic uniforms of various wars.

We have been actively raising funds to construct the expansion. We have reached some of those financial goals to start working with contractors to build Phase II. We hope to have construction starting in the spring/summer of this year.
