Event: Monthly Meet – August 2023 – 3 Relay Match

Late summer is here, folks are trying to stay cool and out of the heat. Watching their gardens and flowers wilt in the sun, drinking their sweet tea on their porches with their fans blowing as we send the kiddos back to school. So we are all kinda looking forward to fall, leaves a changing, garden harvesting, canning the veggies, making the jams and jellies and just getting a bit cooler out. Time to get off the porch, dust off the rifles and see about getting ready for the fall shooting season.

So, rain or shine, we will be starting the Saturday, August 26th shoot with shooters registration, set up and sign in at 8:30am and start the course of fire description and safety briefing with the goal of starting the shoot by 9:00am.

We are having two shooting categories, “off-hand” and “supported” to compete in classifications for fairness. We do not want to exclude anyone who wants to shoot with us but we will not compete against centerfire or scopes to be fair for example. “Supported” means that you can use the bench rest, shooting sticks, kneeling, sitting, prone or any method of support.

We will be shooting three (3) relays this month, two (2) with 10 shots each, patch and roundball, any caliber in these two shooting classifications off hand and supported for score. The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes, just bragging rights.

The third relay will be a surprise team match with number of shots determined by how good your teammates shoot!

First Relay for individual score – Paper Target:
10 shots at 50 yards, as we have shot a lot of steel as of late and folks like some variety at some distance. So by popular demand or is it just demand? It will be a paper target for score. It will be the three bull target. One bull target for practice, the remaining two – five shots each for score.

Second Relay for individual score – Paper Target:
10 shots at 25 yards, paper as well for score. Two bullseye target – five shots each for score.

Third Relay team score:
Surprise team competition. Teams to be determined based on number of shooters that day. Number of shots based on how good your team shoots but look for two minimum, maybe three. Surprise course of fire as well. NO you are not shooting blindfolded with your teammates guiding you to shoot.

Both relays will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category off hand or supported (bench-rest, shooting sticks etc) as always. This is for your personal bragging rights. The team relay will be for team prizes and excluded from the scoring of the first two relays.

First shot determines your scoring category. No changing your mind after first shot. So pick either bench or offhand.

So shooting safety talk start time: 9:00am, goal is done by noon so we can all enjoy time with our families, get back out of the heat or get those weekend chores done.

Patch and roundball.

Guests are always welcome who just want to watch, learn and meet folks.  Bring a chair and we got two picnic tables to sit at as well.

Member of both TRBPS and PCSC: $5
Member of TRBPS and not PCSC: $10
Member of PCSC and not TRBPS: $15
Member of neither: $20
