June 2026 – Monthly Meet – Semiquincentennial Celebration
by John White
June 27, 2026

We started the day with 27 shooters, including five new faces, and a fantastic host of guests who stopped by to see what we are all about. It was a classic warm, humid summer day. Around 11:45 AM, just as we were wrapping things up, some ominous dark clouds rolled in. Fortunately, the sky never actually delivered any rain, mist, thunder, or lightning—we left the thundering and lightning to our muzzleloaders!

We had 14 off-hand and 13 bench shooters locked and loaded by 8:55 AM, and the visitors just kept on coming all morning long. There were THREE trade tables set up and packed to the brim with goodies, which naturally sparked a lot of lively conversation and wheeling-and-dealing. The tomahawk and knife-throwing range saw plenty of flying steel and heavy activity as well. Thanks to everyone’s help, the range was cleaned up, prizes were awarded, and by 12:30 PM, the last person left—making it look as though we were never even there.

The results are as follows:
Off hand Results
1st – Bob Wilson
2nd – Tracy D.
3rd – Bill D.
4th – Erik R.
5th – Tony C.
Bench Results
1st – Charlie R.
2nd – Jim W.
3rd – Tim C.
4th – Tim L.
5th – David A.

Honoring the 76
Our theme this month was a celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of our independence. We proudly shot under the historic Bennington flag, with its 13 stars surrounding the “76” and its 13 vibrant red and white stripes.

To match the theme, we shot a special anniversary target featuring 13 bullseyes to replicate the original 13 colonies. Shooters took one shot at each colony at 25 yards, followed by 10 shots at 50 yards where we rang the steel targets—including our notoriously fast running fox.

We also officially inducted three new shooters into our infamous TRBPS Dryball Club. They were joined by several repeat members who shall remain nameless (cough, cough). Scores were tallied, shooters were ranked, and both the off-hand and bench categories were scored independently for maximum fairness.

A massive congratulations to ALL our shooters! We hope you and your families thoroughly enjoy those hard-earned meat prizes.
Looking Ahead: The July “Blanket Shoot”
What do we have up our sleeves for the next shoot, you ask? Well, it’s a meet where everyone wins! Not only do you get a day out of the house with great friends and family, but you are guaranteed to walk away with a prize from our traditional blanket raffle.

What exactly is a blanket prize?
Every participating shooter is asked to bring a prize valued at $20 or less to place on a common blanket. At the end of the day, shooters choose a prize from the blanket based on their final scoring rank. Think of it as a tactical gift exchange: you bring something great, and you leave with something great. Unique, traditional, or handmade items are always highly prized!
