Monthly Meet – May 25th, 2024 – Varmints Beware!

May 25 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Spring is here, school is almost out, summer vacations about to start and folks are tilling and planting their gardens and now they are watching the sprigs and sprouts coming up.  They are looking forward to their home grown carrots, tomatoes, corn, beans, lettuce and everything else they can plant, grow and eat later in the year as garden fresh veggies.  So as they gaze out over their garden what do they see?  Ground hogs, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, crows eating up those new, fresh growing plants!  They just gotta go don’t they?
So we will be starting the registration sign in at 8:30am on Saturday May 25th and start the course of fire description and safety briefing with the goal of starting the shoot by 9:00am.
We are having two shooting categories, off hand as it is known as and bench to compete in classifications for fairness. We will be shooting two relays, 10 shots each, patch and roundball, any caliber in these two shooting classifications off hand and bench.  The classifications will not compete against each other for prizes, just bragging rights.
First Relay:
10 shots at 50 yards, we will have ground hogs to eliminate, same for rabbits, crows, squirrels and any other pesky varmints we can find in the form of steel or targets.
Second Relay:
10 shots at 25 yards, small varmints target for points.  It is a tough little bugger of a target so be ready to aim small miss small.
Both relays will be added together for placement within your appropriate shooting category off hand or bench (bench-rest, shooting sticks etc)..
First shot determines your scoring category. No changing your mind after first shot.  So pick either bench or traditional off hand.
So shooting safety talk start time:  9:00am,  goal is done by noon so we can all enjoy time with our families this Memorial day weekend.  We also understand the importance of this weekend and what it stands for.
20 shots total, Patch and roundball.
Our third Relay:
With our successful pistol match this last month we will be having a monthly pistol match independent of the rifle match.  Participation is voluntary if you have a pistol and want to shoot it for score.  5 shots, 25 yards big bull target.  So bring your pistols for added chances to bring home the meat so to speak.

MEMBERS: Remember that we will have a Trade Blanket at all monthly meets starting in 2024. Bring any items you would like to sell, trade or barter. The items can be anything – Old, New, Blades, Period Clothing, and all manner of supplies.

Guests are always welcome who just want to watch, learn and meet folks.  Bring a chair and we got two picnic tables to sit at as well.
